Speaking truth to power

The photo of Jane Bond and Rebecca Bond and the biographical text quoted by Yukio Strachan are from The American Studies at the University of Virginia website.

The photo of Jane Arthur Bond’s memorial is from the Find a Grave website.

Whoever wrote that article needs their ass beat. Seriously. That’s the most disrespectful shit I’ve seen in a long time.

___

Dear yt America, if slavery was SO long ago, and it’s a post-racial society now; why can’t you be honest about what happened? Shouldn’t the white Bonds be able to go; ‘It doesn’t hurt us to admit our ancestors had slaves, ran a plantation, raped said slaves repeatedly and passed them back and forth like a borrowed book, disconnecting blood ties and destroying relationships.‘

Instead the New York Times is there protecting the White Bonds from their reality, while hiding/obscuring everything that made a civil rights leader the way he was.
